The moms were pretty meat. I liked them. Sometimes the guys were pretty shallow and couldn't really see past the externals. I think that if a guy's mom doesn't like his wife it'll be hell on the poor girl and they simply should call the marriage off. The girl will suffer too much. Dating is about one-on-one. But marriage is about the joining of family. Nothing worse than being familyless because the family one has married into hates one. I speak from experience.

This show talked about the homosexuals. Most shows about the holocaust do, actually. But most documentaries tend to ignore the gypsies and the Afro-Germans who had arrived their from German-owned African colonies. It was as if these folks didn't even care about the gypsies.

The big problem is that most people in that time were germans first and Christians second. And now...many Christians are Americans first and Christians second. Which makes for Christian Americans being too patriotic and wanting to make the US a Christian place. And if persecution arises against Biblical Christians, I'm totally convinced many so-called Christians will also allow such persecutions because they've gone so far from the Bible. -CCarole McDonnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15443401088634718848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12177793.post-32376328497465391912008-12-29T14:00:00.000-05:002008-12-29T14:00:00.000-05:00Interesting. I dislike that the way to win is to be conniving and deceitful, and I wonder at the lack of self-respect any of these characters have if they are willing to publicly humiliate themselves at such a pathetic grasp for their 15 minutes of fame. Stand up, girls! You're worth better than this pampered, over-protected mama's boy. If you don't want to live with her, don't take him, because the two are a package and he obviously is unwilling to cut the apron strings and be his own man. What kind of guy gives his mother veto control over his marriage? Not one I'd recommend to anyone I know, that's what kind.

And I agree about the holocaust stuff. Funny that tv shows rarely mention that gay men and lesbians were persecuted and put to death with the Jews and the Gypsies and the JW's. Lesbians and prostitutes were lumped together as a class and forced to wear a black triangle like Jews had to wear a yellow Star of David. Gay men had to wear a pink triangle. I saw an elderly woman testify before a legislative committee in Minnesota a few years back when some lawmaker was trying to fiddle with the official historical version of the holocaust that would be taught in the state's schools. He wanted all references to the persecution of gay men and lesbians eliminated from the texts. This elderly Jewish lady stood up, looked him in the eye and told him the truth. "The gays were there. And they were killed. They were treated the worst. I saw it." When asked her opinion of people who claim otherwise, she said "they are ignorant or they are wrong. And in XXX's case, I happen to think he's both." The place dissolved into pandemonium. But the truth was spoken. By a woman who had been there and seen the horror with her own eyes. For that day, at least, it could not be denied.Dawn Fortunehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14722591049949538021noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12177793.post-81301201071845310352008-12-29T10:51:00.000-05:002008-12-29T10:51:00.000-05:00Ah, woman! One of the black girls who got cut had a weird love-hate relationship with one of the mothers. They really liked each other but they also argued like daughters all the time. But the son didn't want her.

And re the christian hatred. Ah woman, it's too much. Especially when one listens to NPR. -CCarole McDonnellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15443401088634718848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12177793.post-26481968508340470392008-12-29T10:41:00.000-05:002008-12-29T10:41:00.000-05:00I read entire post, and I'd like to comment on two...I read entire post, and I'd like to comment on two points: Momma's Boys and the Bad Christian thing. As always I agree.

I don't have cable, but I am not amazed at how black women still think that they will get on these shows and these white mamas will take them in...Not! I've seen similar shows as well about mamas looking for a nice girl/or looking for nice boy for their child and the black girl rarely gets picked. It's almost like, common sense. The whiteness is still pretty much ideal...

Yeah, I am tired as well of the "Bad Christian thing" People will wake up one day, if they ever will, and see that all the bad things happening now, most Christians who are doing what they should be doing will be protected by God. It was a firey service at church yesterday and it opened my eyes even more to folks playing around not believing God, or trying to play Him. Of course, I have my doubting moments, but I do believe that Christians are being pinpointed even more and I have to be serious.

Great post!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
