Psalm 112

Psalm 112 (King James Version)

What wonderful promises! On the one hand, they are promises I rest my heart on. I like believing and trusting that my sons will be mighty and great. I hold to these promises. And really, I should stop whining about the pathological truth and affirm God's truth.

Yet, these promises are for those who fear the Lord and who delight in his commandments. A lot of the clippy-clappy cakey-bakey prosperity in this life Mammon-worshiping church hold to these promises. Yet, do they hold to them in order to keep God's commandments? Folks tithe in the church to receive. True, God blesses our seeds, but he wants us to obey his commandments to help the poor, take care of the widows and the fatherless. When was the last time you saw a Christian church take up a collection for the poor widow and fatherless in our midst? It's so rare now. We must take care of the orphans. We must take care of the poor and stop resenting or judging them.

When you serve the wrong God, you serve the fruit of that wrong God. The Church shouldn't be trying to hard to get the things of this world. If we sow to the flesh, we will of the flesh reap corruption. Let's not sow to greed; let's sow to help the poor.

We live at the end of time, plain and simple. What will all our money do for us if the anti-christ is just around the corner? Yeah, I know. There are Christian folks who believe that we'll be raptured BEFORE the bad stuff goes down. There's this feeling of: "Christians have suffered in Indonesia, the Middle East, Russia, China, etc. But Christians in America won't be touch, we'll be raptured." I don't believe that. I suspect we might go anytime. I'm not even sure if we're in the tribulation now or not.

But this psalm promises we will not be afraid of evil tidings. Evil tidings are coming. Yep, they definitely are. But if we connect to God and truly follow him, we will see how God shows his love and favor to those who love Christ. There'll be a difference between those who are under the Passover blood and those who aren't.

Psalm 112

1Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
5A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.
6Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
7He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.
8His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.

9He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.
10The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.
