As one studies Christian songs -- especially the most famous of them-- one realizes how complicated the lives of Christians can be. Some of our best songs were written by people who still bring a lot of controversy.
One of the favorite Christian songs I have decided to follow Jesus was written by Sadhu Sundar Singh an Indian born into a Sikh family. The Sikhs are a religion in India that is monotheistic. They are neither Muslim nor Hindu but they are one of the main religions of India. Sundar persecuted Christians in the beginning but when he was contemplating suicide he had a conversion experience and became a Christian.

I never knew who wrote this song. My husband sang this song at a little Lutheran church once and was asked to stop singing it. We have been Christians for over 30 years now and have been asked to sing it again at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, here in Michigan, just north of Detroit. God is so good. All the time. I love the way HE restores to us the years the locusts have taken.
