He gives wisdom and upbraids not

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5 

What a wonderfully sweet declaration! What an insight into the sweetness and kindness and understanding of God!

As humans we do stupid things and make stupid decisions. God knows this. He knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. He is the Ancient of Days and has lived forever and always. But we are merely dust. We don't know the way the world works. We have not lived the lives of other humans so we don't know when experiments fail. We don't have time to make one experiment after another until we get it right. And often, when we make one experiment after another, we get it wrong a lot more often than we get it right. It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. We don't see the larger view. All we can see is the step before our feet.

But we have a God who doesn't tell us "I told you so" and understands our stupidity. How loving He is.
