And underneath are the everlasting arms

Got up thinking of this verse Deuteronomy 33:27 “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee."

So looked up sermons

Life gets scary sometimes.I know some folks believe we christians pray to God because we're afraid of life. well, duh, yes! I'm not ashamed of leaning on God. Yeah, i have fallen into the snare of the fear of man. But I fight the good fight against Tyrant Shame. I'm not ignorant of Satan's devices. I know one of his tools is to make us feel ridiculous. But eh, what's mockery in the long run?

Hi Carole!

I couldn't see video post, but I did have two questions. I would like your opinion on Juanita Bynum's situation. Some people feel she deserved to get beat to a pulp, but I feel that even if we don't know how she was behind closed doors, we should put some blame on her husband as well.

Also, what do you think of Pastors that have good "material things?" I believe that Pastors are to be well taken of if they are working and doing what they should- yet, if their flock is depressed and in poverty..something's wrong.

Just pondering these things and would like others' inputs :)

In the Bible, Paul tells Timothy that we should keep the mystery of faith with godliness and that some who have faith have been left shipwreck because they did not have faith with a good conscience. The conscience can be seared and as Timothy was warned The love of money is the good of all evil.

Therefore I am a great believer in trying to walk the narrow road. If the righteous scarcely enter, we really have to be careful. While there is nothing "wrong" with having a lot, a pastor should search his conscience to see if his conscience is seared by all kinds of rationalizations and cold-heartedness. In the early church when the holy spirit was in the church, a mere lie would get a person killed as in Sapphira and her hubby. People had all things in common. So I suspect if we want to see power in our church we really have to understand holiness and we have to choose the most excellent way. The rich should help the poor and there is no excuse for rich pastors.

As for Juanita Bynum, I will only say I thought the woman was a foolish but charismatic woman who was a might full of herself but she shouldn't be beaten down. The holy spirit says the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. Juanita came from a "tradition" where the holy spirit supposedly takes someone over and they just can't control themselves. This kind of silliness makes people very self-indulgent. And she was way too praised as a prophet and somewhat deluded about following the spirit when what she often did and said was following church tradition.

She and her husband had wanted to be big on TBN. They behaved big on TBN. Until TBN kinda disliked him for going overtime or whatever the reasons. We really have to stop letting TV Christian tradition affect us. In doing that we create christian stars...and when they fail we get mean or we lose faith. God works through all christians. He wants to make all people prophets.

As for her husband, he fell into the need to be famous...and from the gossip seems to have been upset that he wasn't up there in the ranks. Christians all over the world are suffering and here in America instead of growing, we're aiming for material things such as fame, wealth, power, prestige. Not good. I don't fault him or her. They are victims of this world...christian television is as worldly as anything else. But we must not be conformed to the world. And he should not have beaten her because she didn't help him acheive the big church. And she should not have gotten addicted to all that TV fame either, so he wouldn't have been tempted to use her. One has to be careful with one's love and marriage. And they both should have been spiritual enough to know better. It makes you wonder if many Christians are really being spiritual the way Christ defines it.-C

oops! Meant: the love of money is the root of all evil. Aargh. Check the videos again, if you can. Maybe it was a fluke. Sometimes youtube does odd stuff. If it gets weird again, will remove them. -C

PS again. The Bible tells us we give so that we may receive so that we may give. Having, we can bless others. Abounding we can abound unto ever good work. God wants to bless us so we can bless others. Also in Phillipians Paul talks about this. So, if a minister has material things he should be definitely give to his parishioners. -C
